If you have been in the market for a new car and you have found that vehicle that is just right for you with all the bells and whistles, you will want to think about your warranty options. A warranty is a smart decision to ensure that any potential issues that come up with the general wear and tear of your vehicle are covered. There are two warranty options that you will want to consider: a manufacturer extended warranty and a third-party warranty. There are pros and cons to each one and the best option for you will depend on what you are looking for and your specific needs. We would like to take a look at the different options available to you so that you can better make an informed decision when you purchase your warranty.
Third Party Warranty
One benefit of a third party warranty is that they are a cheaper option when compared to the manufacturer warranty. This can be great if you are on a tight budget and can't afford the manufacturer warranty. They are good if you are purchasing a used car that is on the cheaper end and you don't want to put the extra investment into it. They do not however have the same benefits of coverage as the manufacturer warranty. Which one you choose will depend on what you can afford and whether or not you need the added benefits and perks of the manufacturer warranty.
Though a manufacturer extended warranty comes at a higher price, there are many benefits to purchasing one. One of the pros of purchasing a manufacturer extended warranty is that your vehicle will have a quicker turnaround time when it comes to any needed repair. This is of course a great benefit to you as you can't be waiting around for your car to be fixed when you have places to be and people to see. Your busy life is not going to take a break until your car gets fixed. You will also have the added peace of mind in knowing that your vehicle is in the hands of experienced, factory trained technicians. Other benefits of a manufacturer warranty is coverage of mechanical and electrical repairs, roadside assistance and rental car service. All-in-all it is a great benefit for the money.
Manufacturer Warranty Explained
If you decide to go the route of the manufacturer extended warranty, it is an excellent choice that will provide you with many added benefits. Here is a helpful overview of the coverage included in a manufacturer warranty. We used the Toyota Extended Warranty as an example:
- • 2 years or 25,000 miles: this includes roadside assistance.
- • 3 years or 36,000 miles: This is the most basic coverage and includes coverage of major and minor parts of the vehicle but excludes maintenance.
- • 5 years or 100,000 miles: This includes coverage of engine, transmission, alternator and drive axles.
- • 5 years + unlimited mileage: includes coverage of rust and/or corrosion.
We hope this has been a helpful resource for you as you consider purchasing a warranty for your vehicle. Whichever option you go with, warranties are a good idea as they will help you have peace of mind as you drive around in your newly purchased car, knowing that you are prepared for any potential car problems.
